This month we will be looking at a completely automated horse racing system that will place your bets just prior to the start of a race with a view to leaving these bets in-play during the race.
The bets will be placed into the BetFair Betting Exchange via the Betting Assistant Platform.
The betting style of this system will be better suited to certain types of races than others, that is why there is a paper trading mode which should be used before you start trading with your own money. This will give you an opportunity to find out for yourselves what kind of races are better suited for this system. However, later on I will give you my observations on what I consider to be the most lucrative kind of races for this system.
The system comes in the form of a spreadsheet that can be downloaded from the Betting School members area (http://www.betting-school.com/membersonly/?p=1391). You will also find on the Betting School website a complete list of detailed instructions that will enable you to get the system up and running in a very short space of time. However, I will give a brief summary here of what the system sets out to do.
The system sets out to LAY as many horses as possible whilst the race is in-play. Many studies have been made over the years to try and work out the best prices that horses should be layed at whilst the race market is in-play. There are many systems on the market these days that advocate that you should be trying to lay all the horses 10% or even 20% below their starting prices and hope that the majority of the horses will hit these prices resulting in a profit. However, I have studied the low prices that horses reach in a race over the last eighteen months and have come to the conclusion that it is not about percentage movements but more to do with the actual price.
