January and February have been months decimated by the weather, but the month of March should see normal service resumed.
This is a make or break month for trainers. March is of course host to the Cheltenham festival, which is the high point of the whole jump season. This is the meeting when winners really count and the big stables will aim their best horses at this one four-day meet. However, the festival is just four of 31 days in the month and for followers of monthly trainer trends it is the performance of a trainer over the whole month that really counts.
There is plenty of jump action throughout the month at lesser tracks and therefore March is often the time when smaller trainers can make their mark when the bigger names are focused on events in the Cotswolds.
