The Weekend Bulletin (Friday 25th March)
The level of racing in the UK takes a bit of a dip in quality this weekend after the dizzy heights of the Cheltenham Festival which produced many memorial moments such as the wins for Hurricane Fly, Big Bucks and Long Run during the four days of outstanding action.
You may recall that in last week’s bulletin we offered a taster of one of the many benefits that our Betting Insiders Club Members enjoy as part of their on-going package, namely the Race Profiles selections from Fridays Gold Cup Day.
(If you are not receiving the bulletins by email then please add your address to one of the opt in boxes on the site to make sure you get the bets before the prices go!)
We trust that you took the advice on board and enjoyed the following highlights from the races covered:-
Unaccompanied – 2nd 11/2
Final Approach – Won 10/1
Bob’s Worth – Won 15/8 (backed in from 3/1)
Long Run – Won 7/2 (backed in from 9/2)
Level stakes at the generally available prices delivered a very pleasing +57% return on investment and capped what had been a thoroughly enjoyable and more importantly profitable week for our Members.
Moving on to Saturdays action Dubai host the World Cup meeting which includes no less than 7 Group 1 and 2 races.
The feature event is the richest horse race on the planet with the winning connections due to collect a prize in excess of £3.8m.
The market is headed by the Henry Cecil trained Twice Over who is generally available around the 5/2 mark who had an unfortunate experience in the race last year when he was drawn wide and was bumped which clearly put paid to his chance.
The trainer opted to change the horse’s preparation this year opting to bring him out to Dubai earlier in order to gain experience of the Tapeta surface and he won his prep-race over the course and distance on March 3 in auspicious style.
Twice Over must break from a wide stall again – 12 of 14 – but Cecil feels that he is a better horse this time round and believes he will cope with the draw.
Winter Derby
On the domestic front the highlight is the Winter Derby on the All Weather surface at Lingfield and 13 are declared to run in this Group 3 event, with Nideeb heading the market @9/4. There are some fairly strong stats that should help fathom out the likely contenders such as:-
Each of the last ten winners had previously won on an artificial surface furthermore, five of those had scored at least once at Lingfield earlier in their career. No fewer than seven of the last ten winners had collected on their last start before the Winter Derby.
Starting favourite, on the other hand, is not a great recommendation, judged on the stats, as only two outright market leaders – Adiemus (13-8) and Tranquil Tiger (11-8) – have scored in the past decade.
