Now that we have a definition for the topic of class, we can begin to look at different ways in which we can assess this. Of course, this can be assessed ‘manually’; in other words, the assessment is completely down to the individual skill of the handicapper. There are indeed many people who believe that this is the only way that class can be assessed. Personally, as someone who has handicapped successfully, but now prefers to rely on statistics and figures, combined with my own knowledge, I would not agree with this. Experience has shown me that pretty much anything can be put into figures, it is just a question of finding the best way to do this.
