"News Aggregators" and "Feed Readers"

If you plan on taking advantage of the unlimited supply of constantly updated, cutting edge information floating around the net in RSS Channels and Feeds, you'll need a way to read them.

News Aggregators, also commonly known as Feed Readers come in many different forms. There are web based aggregators like Bloglines.com and My Yahoo! where you can sign up for a free account, subscribe to your favorite feeds and read the latest news through an online interface. These are extremly handy if you like to keep up with the latest feeds from several different locations like at the office, at home or while you're travelling.

Then you have your standalone News Readers like Feed Demon, Feed Reader, and NewzCrawler. They're similar to web browsers in that you basically bookmark RSS and Atom news feeds or Blogs for future use. The powerful thing about these software tools though, is that they automatically check your feeds for updates and can be set to alert you the minute new info is added to your feeds.

And then you have your software tools that work in conjunction with other applications on your computer like Pluck which works with Internet Explorer, and my personal favorite The Firefox Web Browser, which has the built in ability to detect and read RSS Feeds.

Whatever flavor of news reader or aggregator you are most comfortable with, you can't beat the fact that by using them, you don't have to go surfing the web looking for news any more, because it comes to you.
