The Weekend Bulletin (Sat 29th Dec’18)
The Festive period is traditionally a busy one on the equine front and the King George at Kempton on Boxing Day turned out to be a thriller with the Paul Nicholls trained Clan Des Obeaux emerging the winner of an incident packed race to deliver a fantastic tenth win for the yard in the prestigious event. Waiting Patiently was extremely unlucky when passing the stands for the first time as he was badly hampered and unseated his rider when seemingly going well.
He was tipped up back in November by one of our regular Big Race pundits, Alex Peperell, and to add salt to the wounds his fancy for yesterday’s Welsh National, Ramses De Teillee (adv 25/1 EW), was just foiled by the Colin Tizzard jolly Elegant Escape. Fine margins as ever, but at the available longer term prices that our knowledgeable contributors work with, there are profits and plenty of fun to be had.
With the New Year fast approaching, and after a decade plus, the Insiders Club Members Reports will be moving from the current printed format to a weekly PDF which allows us to work more closely with the expert pundits to deliver more timely content. The line-up will incorporate the scribes on the horse racing front from the likes of Alex Peperell, Alan Dudman (betting.betfair), Josh Wright (racingtoprofit), Sarah Shannon, David Massey and Paul Moon (theracinghorse).
Alongside these we have the uniquely placed Andrew Higgins who resides in Murcia Spain and has developed a deep understanding of the La Liga football scene, whilst Mark Foley shares his knowledge of punting on Golf and Gary Boswell (www.betlesswinmore.co.uk) splits his contributions around the Women’s tennis Grand Slams and the knowledge that he has acquired after many years of writing and punting for a living.
For those that enjoy taking free cash off the old enemy our resident Arbitrage Guru, Mark Jenkins, delivers a masterclass in risk free punting techniques, and the hard working team of product/service testers, Rod & Keith, will be keeping tabs on those heavily promoted paid for offerings which in the main do not deliver on their profit claims, but the guys do unearth a few gems amongst them.
If 2018 has not delivered the level of returns that your punting exploits had aspired to then why not make a change for the better and check out how the Insiders Club can help 2019 be more profitable. You can find all about it here https://bettinginsiders.com
Find out below what has caught the eye of our resident Big Race Guru, Nick Hardman, from Saturday’s to races.
Saturday 29th December
This is the most interesting race of the day. Samcro has questions to answer, Sharjah has entered the scene on the back of a Grade 1 last time out and Bedrock attempts to prove his Grade 1 win last time was no fluke. However, I think Petit Mouchoir is a massive price. He won this in 2016, then followed up winning the Irish Champion Hurdle and was third in the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham. That form alone affords him plenty of respect and he was placed in two Grade 1 novice chases last year. PaddyPower offer 3 places which is enough to tempt me in.
Petit Mouchoir @22/1 e/w (1/5 odds, 3 places)
Sandy Beach showed the benefit of wind surgery last time and could follow up under Harry Cobden. Vice Et Vertu is in rude health and should also be in the shake-up.
Sandy Beach @6/1 Gen
Vice Et Vertu @8/1 Gen
