The Weekend Bulletin (Sat 22nd Dec’18)
Last time around we took in the key trends for the big handicaps at Cheltenham which our resident Big Race Guru Nick Hardman uses on a regular basis for his selection processes.
The first of the duo ended with a disappointing turn out but a battling performance from Ozzie The Oscar saw him emerge a worthy winner with Nicks picks not able to get involved.
It was a different story in the Caspian Caviar Gold Cup with one of Nick’s selections, Frodon (adv 11/1), seeing his race out strongly to fend off the challenge of Cepage from the home turn to defy top weight of 11st 12lb. The 6yo had won the same race 2 seasons back and was given a fine ride by Bryony Frost to repeat the feat off a 15lb higher mark.
With Kempton on Boxing Day to look forward to there is also some decent action on Saturday to enjoy before a brief gap in the racing action for a well-earned Festive break. The feature race at Kempton is of course the King George and we will have extensive coverage of this and the Coral Welsh National the day after in our special Festive Issue of the Insiders Club Members Report.
As we approach the end of another year we have been thinking about our New Year’s resolutions and more specifically how we can improve the Betting Insiders Club and after much discussion and member feedback we have decided to change to a weekly members report in PDF format rather than the current hard copy monthly offering.
The fact is that timing is a big factor when publishing winning betting information and having to work to a monthly schedule with days lost to printing and posting has been hampering our ability to share timely information.
Apart from the timing benefits the other big benefit is readability. For some the current printed copy can be a challenge given the small print and by moving forward to the new PDF’s we can make the tables and data associated with systems and research larger and of course you can zoom in with a PDF if you can’t see the detail.
So in 2019 we will be publishing a report each Friday morning and the main stay will be Big Race Trends for the main weekend action and at that time we will have a better view on entries and pricing, to enhance the analysis. This weekly report will also include the regular content that members expect and love, but this content will be spread over the month and released at appropriate times.
So the headline news here is that we will be providing more content, which is easier to read at the most optimal time and the new format will kick off with a Festival Special issue that will be available on Monday 24th December.
We are committed to constant improvement of our friendly club and hope that this change will help make 2019 a big winning year.
If you are online on Christmas Day watch out for an email from us about a very special offer we have for membership of the Betting Insiders Club. It’s a one day only, never to be repeated price, so if you’re thinking of joining watch out for my email early Christmas morning.
You can find out what will be carrying Nick Hardman’s hard earned from Saturday’s cards below but just before you read on, all that remains, is to wish you all a Happy Xmas and a prosperous New Year.
Saturday 22nd December
I think this race looks wide open and it might be worth chancing Top Notch over this new trip returned to hurdles. Agrapart has conditions to suit and can also go well if this turns into a slog through the mud.
Top Notch @14/1 e/w (1/4 odds, 3 places, B365)
Gold Present looks to have solid claims and back to back victories could well be on the cards. Plenty in with chances though and the each way play could be The Last Samurai who will relish this if it becomes a true stamina test and is fit enough on his reappearance.
The Last Samurai @18/1 e/w (1/5 odds, 4 places)
Gold Present @11/2
