St. Leger Winner

Although trainer Jeremy Noseda was not present at the running of the 230th St. Leger race, his horse Sixties Icon, from his Newmarket yard was guided to the winning post by jockey, Frankie Dettori. The Ladbrokes St Leger, (raced this year at York while Doncaster is being redeveloped,) is the last classic race of the season and with £475,000 on offer to the winner it has been a race that has eluded Noseda for too long. Sixties Icon, the 11-8 favourite, was guided through the main field by Dettori and only hit the front with two furlongs to go, from then on it was a matter of Dettori just nudging his mount forward to hold onto the lead.
